WHY USING WHATSAPP IS NOT SAFE IN 2021?

HOW DID THIS MATTER START??  

 It starts in such a way that one notification comes in the phone where some terms and conditions are given which you have to agree to continue using WhatsApp. In that notification, it was given that your data in WhatsApp will be shared to Facebook and it was also written that if you won't agree with the terms and conditions then your WhatsApp account will be deleted or they won't allow you to use their services.

This year (2021) WhatsApp has introduced these terms. But when WhatsApp started( in 2009), they said that it will not charge any money for using their app and also said that it will keep all the data and messages private, which won't be shared to anyone.

NOW QUESTIONS ARISES " CAN WHATSAPP READ ALL THE MESSAGES RIGHT NOW"?

Even if you have accidentally accepted the terms and conditions, don't worry it's not a big deal, WhatsApp will still keep your data end to end encrypted which means messages will only be seen by you(SENDER) and RECEIVER. No third party will get to know what message you have typed. In fact WhatsApp itself will not know what you have typed.

THEN WHAT DATA WOULD BE SHARED IF YOUR MESSAGES ARE END TO END ENCRYPTED?? 

WhatsApp latest notification says that except messages all other data's will be shared to Facebook. Here data includes all the essential things like STATUS , NAMES , IP ADDRESS , CONTACT DETAILS , PROFILE PICTURE , HARDWARE MODEL , OPERATING SYSTEM , SIGNAL STRENGTH etc.

HOW THIS DATA IS HELPFUL TO FACEBOOK?

Facebook messenger and Instagram messenger are those messengers you can't trust because they are not end to end encrypted, messages which you will send to receiver will be seen by these messenger. Their way of earning money is that they give our data to other companies(advertisers).Many companies are there who wants to take your data ( means they want to know about you , what you want to purchase which includes buying houses , cars etc) . And the companies(advertisers) who buys our data will show the advertise of product which we want to buy.

WHAT ELSE WILL WHATSAPP KNOW?

Previously, if you were chatting with anyone then it was only you who know about your messages , now also WhatsApp will not be able to know what you are messaging BUT will be able to know with whom you are chatting and in which group you are active in a high percent.

We know that DATA is a very essential in anyone's life. In India, 40 Crores people use WhatsApp for professional and personal work and we would not like that our important data (that may be anything which is mentioned above) will shared with anyone.

 Lastly most dangerous thing that WhatsApp has included in it's privacy policy is that end to end encryption will only work if you are normally chatting with your friend or relatives but if you are chatting with any Whatsapp Business account then it will not work. In that case WhatsApp will be able to see all the messages which you are sending to the receiver.

WHAT IS THE SOLUTION THEN?

The Delhi high court on Monday said that accepting the new privacy policy of WhatsApp was "Voluntary" thing and one can choose not to use or join that platform if one did not agree with it's terms and conditions.

"It private app and Don't join it. It is a voluntary thing don't accept it. Use some other app". Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva said to petitioner, a lawyer who has challenged WhatsApp new privacy policy. The Central government also agreed with court statement.

This above discussion can be concluded as that right now we can't trust social messaging app that is WhatsApp and we must try to switch over to other platforms. And do remember to read every single thing that pops up in your mobile screen before you click agree.
